Five Aspects of a Good Logo | logos

Five Aspects of a Good Logo | logos

Logos are considered as just another piece of cleverly designed graphic. However, for a company, a logo is much more than that. A logo is an icon representing the company’s vision, its business, its USP and its name crafted in typical fonts to make it memorable. Logos have been known to make or break a company’s fortunes.
A great logo is instantly recognizable and helps in recollecting a brand anywhere in the world. A badly designed logo can similarly make a brand eminently forgettable if it cannot carry the correct message to the masses.
As an astute businessman, it is important for you to select your company logo wisely. Always consider the basic aspects that any effective logo must have before getting your logo designed.

Clean and Clutter-Free

A great logo is differentiated from ordinary logos in its clean and clutter-free lines. It should not confuse the customer’s mind with myriad representations. The visual should be straight and impressive in order to leave an indelible impression on the viewer’s mind.
Too many graphics within the same logo can make it appear as a confusing jamboree of multiple aspects. This way, no particular USP or product or perceptive of your company will be embodied clearly through the logo.

Unique and Individual

Since logos are the visual ambassador for your company, it goes without saying that they should be original and unique. The logo should be such that it helps your company to standout among its competitors. It is best not to use standard images or clip art graphics for your logo. Cookie-cutter jobs will never work when you want a great logo.

Your logo should have its own color combination, fonts, graphics or something else that will make it unique. Prospective customers should immediately connect your logo with your company and not confuse it with some other brand.

Unforgettable and Relevant

Logos should be memorable. A logo should add to the brand recall value of your company or products so that customers keep coming back to you. The graphics of the logo should be related to your industry.
It should be created in such a way that customers will recognize it anywhere, anytime. Only then will they be able to describe the logo to other prospective customers who are interested in buying your products or doing business with your company.

Timeless

Since logos are deeply associated with your company’s image, you would not want to change them often. A good logo should therefore be timeless in order to connect with customers of different generation. Great logos have remained unchanged for decades as they could effortlessly bond with younger generations and be in sync with their styles and aspirations.

Technically Correct

An oft ignored area is the technical feasibility the designed logo. Logos should be scalable to fit different advertisement media. A good logo will look equally great in black & white or color. It will create the same impact on TV, newsprint, magazines, on TV, in websites and other social media sites.
There should be no degradation in image quality when they are blown up for billboards or reduced for tiny advertisement spaces. The font should be clearly visible under different conditions.
